Reports and exports

Which report answers which question, and how to export it.

Which report answers what

  • Transaction Detail — every transaction in a period, one row each, with full detail.
  • Income / Expense / COGS Summary — totals by category, the shape most accountants ask for first.
  • GST/HST Preparation Summary — collected and paid tax, organized for your GST/HST filing preparation — not a filed return.
  • Missing Documents — every transaction without a linked, readable source receipt.
  • Review Exceptions — anything currently sitting in Needs Information or flagged for duplicate suspicion.
NoteEvery report only includes what's actually been entered and, where relevant, approved — there's no report that shows projected or estimated figures.

Exporting a report

Every report can be exported as CSV or XLSX. CSV is the safer choice when you're feeding the data into another tool; XLSX keeps formatting and is usually what an accountant expects to open directly.

Choosing a period

Reports can be run over a custom date range, a calendar period, or a client's fiscal period if one's been set. Matching the report period to how your accountant works — calendar quarter versus fiscal quarter, for instance — avoids a mismatch when the numbers get compared against a filing.

Once you're ready to hand off a full package rather than a single report, see the accountant package guide.
